3 red kites were first seen over Crowcombe Heathfield railway station on Good Friday (7.4.23). It is now reported amongst interested neighbours that a pair nested in a nearby property and 3 chicks have fledged. Hope this is accurate - would love to see them get a foothold in this area. One or more birds continue to be seen regularly in the area - I have seen them often alongside the A358 bewteen Seven Ash and Williton, have also seen them circling over Elworthy.
Single Red Kite over Westonzoyland, about 15:00 yesterday 21 May 2023.

One lingered over my garden in Shapwick this morning.
Drive past on A362 near Ammerdown junction and in same field 13+ Red Kites busy circling around over the same muck heap. Also from storage site by Frome railway station fly overs of a Red kite and a cormorant.
At least 8 Red Kites flocking over and on large muck heap in middle of field on right just before A362 Ammerdown junction heading west (no stopping places to get good view) with crows feeding and mobbing; 1 Red Kite about 1/4 mile farther on.

Red Kite fairly low over fields and road just before A362 Ammerdown crossroads (Frome to Radstock) and 3 buzzards soaring before hill down into Buckland Dinham on same road from Frome.
Red Kite wandering over Chipstable today, vaguely east to west.
Looked like the same superb non-moulting individual that appeared briefly on 11Jan23. And on a couple of occasions at the end of 2022.
(Not sure if anyone is much interested in Red Kite records just now. There was a time when somebody was keen to hear of their whereabouts on this blog. They are seen here in Chipstable only a handful of times each year, if that, so a notable species here, at least.)
Red Kite low over the fields around Bickley Lake/Farm near Milverton this morning. Nothing on the lake.
Red kite seen over East Horrington around mid-day today
Kites have successfully bred near this year near Coleford, something they have probably done a few times previously across the East Somerset.
One east of blackdown / near charterhouse on Mendip this morning - may have been same over burrington village (north Somerset) yesterday evening.
Single Red Kite mobbing a Buzzard over Sampford Point on the Blackdowns this morning.
A Red Kite going south over the Ashcott road by Ham Wall car park late morning. Spotted by Abbey (RSPB). Thanks for pointing it.
