Didn’t see the scaup today, but tufties & Pochard were scattered around the reservoir. Gang of 3 (& 6 wigeon) with the south side coot.
He is, plus was the nearest bird. Tried scanning rhe coit flock for the rcps but hopeless with bins only!
He’s getting easier to spot as shoulders become greyer. Also the gang of 3 RC Pochard & 16 wigeon with the south side coot flock. Plus back up to 2 mute swans, but didn’t see the Muscovy.
A couple I met on the way around asked if I’d seen the red kite earlier…
Scaup still at Cheddar Tower this afternoon. Still feeling feeble after my booster jab so only made it to Holwell Lane and picked up a chiffchaff and a greenfinch along there on my walk home
Thursday morning[08;30 ish]there were several Goosander still in residence close to Axbridge tower ,, Saturday morning,,,, down to the RiverYeo via Stubbington Drove way,,, two visible Jay and one other heard, about two dozen winter thrush,A Green Woody and a GW Egret fishing in the river , couple of Reed Bunting chirping away [unseen]in the large fields of as yet uncut reeds
Made it part way round the reservoir late afternoon after my booster jab this morning. Picked up the scaup and the 2 male plus the pale female red crested pochard but again no goosander. Plus flock of redwing with the odd fieldfare
Today, imm male scaup, 3 red-crested pochard, Wigeon & teal. No sign of any goosanders or the drake common scoter reported yesterday
3 male and 9 female goosanders at dusk today plus the muscovy duck. Didn’t see the scaup or any red crested pochard but only had 8x bins and it was a race round before it got too dark

11am Update - imm male scaup was diving near cheddar tower when I arrived, but wind got up & it’s now sleeping near axbridge one, with 11 tufties (another pair along W edge), c.200 Pochard, 50 mallard (of varying designs), Muscovy, a drake teal & the 4 RC Pochard (although one male is still staying apart). 5 cormorant drying their wings on side nearby & others around the reservoir, GC grebes, mostly with the coot flock (& a male Pochard), spread along SW edge & 1 mute swan near yacht club. At least one meadow pipit with pied wags & c.10 linnet in SW corner.
First winter male Scaup near Cheddar Tower this morning. First seen on 24th.
Down to the River Yeo this am along Stubbington Drove.. around 2 dozen Redwing in small groups, pair of Bullfinch ,Solitary GW Egret 4 deer a group of 3 and a single , 2 Heron
