Still there this evening apparently
Some cracking photos on Facebook from Sunday morning, so it obviously wasn’t spending all its time at the back of the lake!
One curlew sandpiper still on Otterhampton Marsh in the rain this morning, as well as a green sandpiper, at least 4 LR plovers, two summer plumage black tailed godwits, redshank, oystercatchers with large chicks and plenty of avocets, with good numbers of young.
Apparently 2 curlew sand there until 10am this morning & some sandwich terns called in. 12 Blackwit today & c.20 herons / 5+ little egrets catching eels. 2 mute cygnets by quantock hide. A few yellow wagtails & a peregrine took a wader from by the river. A walk around steart point added linnet, juv goldfinch, singing greenfinch, 2 Oystercatcher in field & lots of fledged swallows over the village. Swifts over otterhampton & cannington.
The toilets & hides will still be closed at weekends.
Had disappeared by lunchtime (edit - was on birdguides again later), but there were 3 knot, a Blackwit, little ringed plovers, male & female marsh harriers (at different times), 2 well grown oystercatcher chicks & at least 10 well grown and 7 small avocet chicks (small in two families). 5 mute cygnets on stockland marsh. Someone also reported 2 med gulls.
The summer plumage Curlew Sandpiper that has been on Otterhampton Marsh Steart for the last few days was still there this morning at 08:30 from Quantock View hide.
