We saw 3 Yellow Wagtails on the Moor today, a pair of the British race flavissima and a male Channel hybrid flava x flavissima.

Still 4 Yellow Wagtails this morning but very flighty.  The only perched bird seen was a male ”flavissima” - also 8 Ringed Plover on the small pool in the field just before the drain.

At 1345 today there were at least 3 Yellow Wags which included a male and female flavissima type and a male channel type. At 1410, on the way home, I finally caught up with my first Somerset Red Kite of the year, a rather scruffy looking individual lacking several Primary and Secondary wing feathers on both wings. It was drifting over farmland adjacent to Pill Road between Mark and Rooksbridge.

4 Yellow Wagtails still present at 13:00 hrs. What looked like a std pair of British flavissima, plus 2 that had what appeared to be pale, lavender-blue heads, aka Channel Wagtail flavissima x flava. Needs checking as only binos., no ‘scope.

Good views of at least 3, probably 4, Yellow Wagtails at Tealham this morning around 10.30 on a partly flooded field close to where they have been in previous years. A bonus was a flock of 3 Cattle Egret flying south over the same area.

7 Cranes circled over Tealham this morning at 9.30 for about 15 minutes, circling higher whilst occasional bugling then drifted north towards Blackford.
Also a female wheatear and where the road across the moor meets the Wedmore to Westhay road two red kites over recently cut fields.
