Spotted Redshank was also with them and I counted at least 7 knot (not nearly as many as the c.100 on axe behind Brean down later on) - it’s 90p for an hours parking along Burnham seafront (cash or card - no charge in winter - “Along The Esplanade, the chargeable times are 9am to 6pm daily between 1st Apr & 30th Sept”)
24-Sep-2024 (late morning)
Huntspill Sluice & Parret Estuary: Big numbers of Avocets, I counted (in 20s) at least 500, a few Redshank & Curlew, but on big high tide no Knot seen!
Brue Estuary (high water wader roost): at least 450 Redhshank, c.60 Turnstones, a few Dunlin & Ringed Plovers and 4 Knot (non-breeding plumage adults) hoorah, at last!
FYI: For the Brue Est HW wader roost, park in Apex Park free car park at Burnham on Sea, then walk past the 1st lake, taking the tarmac path to the estuary - no more than 10 mins at a slow pace.
