1 juv Little Stint showed well from Quantock hide today, looking to the west.  Great views of all the wildfowl too, much closer to the hides than usual, perhaps due to the mist/fog.

Steart Village to Fenning Island
Great Northern Diver - picked up high over Steart Island before flying over Stert Point and continuing west along the coast at 0745
Merlin - 1
Chiffchaff - 8 singing

Steart Marshes
Spoonbill - 3 immatures still present on Otterhampton
Red Kite - one north at 1130
Water Pipit - minimum of 8 birds in the flooded field north of Quantock hides. Have heard/seen birds dropping into this field a couple of times this winter. Now the water levels are receding it is slightly easier to see the pipit flock on the deck. Viewed from the metal gate on the path between Quantock and Mendip hides.

Also, fairly sure I heard a Little Ringed Plover calling over the flooded field but never saw it.

Others reported Spotted Redshank and a couple of White Wagtails on Otterhampton.

Bar-headed Goose 27/01/23

Hello photographed a bar headed goose just out by the river past the main hides yesterday. Not sure how significant this is, I know they were originally a captive bird but I haven’t seen one in years. Pictures available if people want to see them, can’t seem to upload here.
