The grebe is out in the middle of the reservoir this evening. Yes, usually get goldeneye, the odd scaup and goosander.  I feel a gullbwatch coming on, usually see Med Gulls.

Red-necked grebe near Axbridge tower this morning. Pochard numbers beginning to build up. A few common gulls as well. Cheddar reservoir is a new local patch for me - can we expect goldeneyes in the winter months?

Red crested pochard early evening but couldn’t pick up the red necked grebe from the Axbridge or Cheddar end before rain, wind and general gloom stopped play.

Had a slow walk around the Reservoir 16:00-1800 hrs. Loads of Coots and 4 GC Grebes. The RC Pochard was reasonably close. A Distant Common Sandpiper seen, several Pied Wagtails and the biggest flock of Linnets I’ve ever seen. Some 70-80 birds.

I was shocked to see that 3 dog owners was allowing their dogs to chase the birds/ducks/gulls sat on the steps. The majority of Dog owners had well behaved dogs on leads that were not causing any problems at all.

A few photo’s taken this evening.

RN Grebe again between Cheddar Tower and Sailing Club this morning. RC Pochard also near the Axbridge carpark entrance (although it was in the middle of the reservoir at one stage). Flyover Great Egret on Saturday morning. Water levels rising steadily!

Many apologies to whoever posted on birdguides but it was the rn grebe not the great northern diver that’s mobile.. Sorry - brain fade (again)

The diver was annoyingly mobile this afternoon. Walked from home to the Cheddar Tower met birser who thoughtb it was at thevAxbridge end. We walked round and found it just as it flew to the Cheddar Tower. Walked back and eventually found it back out again from the Axbridge Tower so it must have flown back as we walked round. Humph! RC pochard still there.

Still all in the same position late afternoon.  Do we think the diver might be the one from last winter more grown up?

GN Diver present on the southern part of the res. this morning, Male RC Pochard near the Yacht Club and the RN Grebe was out from the Cheddar tower but if it is the same bird that has been there for a couple of weeks, it has lost any colour from the neck and is now in winter plumage. Also quite a few House Martins around.
