Up to a 100 strong Dunlin passing through Greylake yesterday afternoon.
Still plenty of Snipe about, although numbers may slowly drop as a Stoat has taken to hunting them in front of the hide!
Yesterday someone photographed a kill, and a bit later I saw it running across the ice into the reedbed and back again from the perimeter fence, putting up Snipe and ducks that were close by! It had also taken a Teal earlier in the week!

There was a beautiful male Merlin at Greylake today, though I missed it!
Had to make do with seeing it on the back of a guys camera as he came out of the hide!

I did see a Water Rail on the ice though!
A female Marsh Harrier took a duck. (Probably!)
Snipe probed in front of the hide.
A Pintail was amongst the distant flock of Ducks.
Wren, Stonechat and a Starling looking for food in the reeds.
A Peregrine flew through & landed on top of it’s fave pylon.

Pics on my Blog! (Could someone confirm that the waders with Lapwing in the last pic are Dunlin please!)

Two video diaries of bird life at Greylake RSPB one that captures the iridescent green sheen of a group of Drake Mallards, the second a thousand plus Lapwing in the air over the reserve.

The usual suspects at Greylake this morning, but with many more Wigeon than recent days.
  Snipe numbers are increasing too.
2 Marsh Harriers stayed distant.
Buzzard
Kestrel
Chiffchaff in the bullrushes briefly.
Little birds building up in the car park, especially Reed Buntings!

This morning at Greylake.01-12-2016
Unlike the two previous days Greylake was shrouded in freezing fog so no enthusiasm for pictures, Tuesday and Wednesday did provide beautiful light to enjoy the sight of the ducks mainly Teal with small numbers of Widgeon that took to the air at the approach of the local Marsh Harrier, despite this great spectacle the show was trumped by a Wren that obligingly posed for its picture perched on a Great reed Mace.
