Woodchat Shrike still present this evening at 7PM and showing well for photographs.

Two Cuckoos were calling simultaneously. One was over towards the Mendip hide and the other in the trees next to the River Parrett. Do these birds parasitise the Reed Warblers or the Meadow Pipits that breed here?

One Yellow Wag flew over and another was in the Woodchat field. Also saw my first Sedge Warbler of the year after hearing a few up singing up and around Sand Point over the past week.

Exmoor tomorrow!

Great views this morning and video, as it favoured prominent hedgerow running NW off Stert Drove about half-way between Marsh Farm (just NE of Steart Marshes Car Park) and the Mound at Wall Common. For a cropped video frame click on the link below.
Congrats to Stephen for reaching 250 birds in Somerset.

Cracking views of the Woodchat Shrike in the sunshine early this afternoon - thanks to whoever found it and the guys who relocated it today! My 250th species for Somerset - only taken 18 years!

Male, found y’day, still along hedgerow looking west off Stert Drove, north of Steart Marshes main car-park (about 1/3rd of the way to the ‘Hump’) at 15:55 hrs. (per BirdGuides, which see for locn map)
