4 hobbies at Westhay Saturday morning, beautiful views.
I think that it is actually called the Raised Hide. Located in the middle of the reserve. Very easy to get to
There is a map on the Somerset Wildlife Trust website http://www.somersetwildlife.org/westhay_moor.html

Lots of good sightings, how to you get to the Tower Hide ?
Westhay.
Hobbies and Single Cuckoo showing well from the Tower Hide ( 2 cuckoos heard), along with Breared Reedlings, Kingfisher and Marsh Harriers. Numerous flights from Greylag Geese and Mute Swans. Large Pike directly below hide. One very territorial coot. At the lake hide, excellent views of the Great Crested Grebes.
Otter seen at Westhay, but not be me.
Greylake.
Peregrines very much in evidence. 2 flights at medium level overhead, then one flew up from the ground right in front of the hide. Caught me by surprise. Kestral hunting around the sheep in the field next to the car park. 3 Red Kites flying West to East, just south of Greylake.
On the ground at least a couple of coot families and very protective lapwings and redshanks which is good news. Kingfisher flew passed the hide. Wren nest building. No sign of a Cuckoo
Wall Common.
Superb views of a Cuckoo being mobbed by the Pipits. Amazingly tolerant bird give the number of walkers in the area today.
