3 hours this morning with Phil Edwards. At least 2 Hobby, 2-3 Marsh Harrier, single Sparrowhawk and Buzzard, and a Red Kite over North Hide. 150+ Gadwall and smaller numbers of Shoveler, Teal, Mallard. Two Water Rail seen and plenty calling.
During a two-hour visit this morning along Dagg’s Lane Drove from the car park:-
Bitterns booming (from two different directions); 2 Hobbies between there and London Drove; Cuckoo(s) heard from direction of London Drove; Reed Warblers (many) heard; fewer Cetti’s Warblers but 2 seen briefly: Garden Warbler singing in trees by disabled car park: occasional Chiffchaff and Blackcap; several Reed Buntings sitting up; Great White Egret (1) and several Cormorants; at least 2 Great Crested Grebes on nests; Marsh Harrier seen back at main car park.
