A flock of fieldfare in fields south of the Hunters lodge Inn near priddy on Saturday & today a flight of 20 lapwing west of green ore crossroads was followed by c.50 more to the east (all heading SW)
No Wood Warbler singing around Rod’s Pot yesterday so bird presumably moved on after failing to attract a mate. However, I did find 2 extra Garden Warbler on Black Down that I didn’t see last time. 2 Tree Pipit, 2 Mistle Thrush, a Kestrel, 2 Nuthatch, 4 Whitethroat and 22 Willow Warbler also present.
Around Ubley Nature Reserve/Warren were 4 singing Redstart, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 3 Whitethroat, 2 Willow Warbler, 4 Nuthatch, 6 Mistle Thrush, several House Martins and my first ever Red Kite on the Mendips!
Black Down-1 very vocal Wood Warbler heard singing around Mendip Lodge Wood. Also 2 Cuckoo calling around Rod’s Pot, 3 Spotted Flycatcher, 7 Tree Pipit (including 1 female), 18 Willow Warbler, 2 Whitethroat, 9 Mistle Thrush, 1 Siskin over, 2 Stock Dove heard, 1 Treecreeper, 1 Kestrel and 1 Stonechat.
Burrington Ham-1 Cuckoo that flew over from Black Down and showed well. Also 2 Garden Warbler, 3 Tree Pipit, 11 Willow Warbler and 6 Mistle Thrush.
Dolebury Warren-1 Garden Warbler, pair of Spotted Flycatcher, 3 Willow Warbler, 1 Whitethroat, 2 GSW and 1 Green Woodpecker.
