This morning, several hundred hirundines panicked by a hobby which came in past Cheddar Tower and went west. Great egret and 2 little egrets by the emerging spit near the sailing club. Also there, 30-40 teal, 4 wigeon and 2 female shovelers. First wheatear of the autumn seen flying over the water. Landed north of Cheddar Tower.

Very quiet yesterday evening. Canada geese still present, increased numbers of Coots present an indication of the gentle slide towards Autumn/Winter. Sadly no evidence of any waders.

Greylag with the Canadas this evening by Cheddar Tower. Water level still dropping but not as low as this time last year, I think.

Not at the res’, but a single little egret is quite a regular poacher in the stream behind the “S’ supermarket in the village, also regular sightings of grey wagtail on this little area, and out toward the caravan park close to the football club along with a Kingfisher that has a regular daily visit here
