Having seen pic (it’s on today’s Avonbirding report), it doesn’t appear to be the same as portbury individual from couple of years ago:

There was one reported on here in Avalon marshes migrants thread from March last year (no pic)
Thanks for the interesting link Mike, some messy looking hybrids here! The Cheddar bird looks 50/50 ring-necked x tufted in its features. Shame I can’t put my pic on this forum, but if you’re interested, check my Twitter feed. Many experienced birders have seen and ‘liked’ my post and as yet no one has disputed my call on this bird’s ID
Sometimes tufted X pochard can look similar: https://www.flickr.com/groups/hybridbirds/discuss/72157601784119150/
Ring-necked x tufted duck hybrid on the Res today, plus 6 goosander (1 m, 5 f)
Just one female goldeneye left today - in southwest corner at about 9.30. Still 20+ shoveler. 5 little egrets in field next to southern end. Yesterday a snipe flew across the southwest corner mid-morning.
Could well have been, was flying away from me, so I’m only sure it wasn’t a great
I had a cattle egret cross port Meade drove on to southern bank of reservoir at 13:40, could that have been the egret you saw Mike
2 female Goldeneye together on south side, 37 shoveler on north, a chiffchaff along the top end of new fence & a presumably little egret flying low over the water on far side after lunch. (Pochard appeared to be the most numerous duck & a dead pike blown to edge)
14:00 Female Goldeneye on south side of Cheddar Res, and Male Scaup Axbridge side of the Cheddar tower. 30 Shoveler also present, the highest count I have had there, 3 Common Gull far out with main gull flock.
along the cycle track this am, 3 Wren 3 Greenfinch, calling a Thrush in full voice, small group of Goldfinch and also 3 Bullfinch together
eight Goosander this am, in bright sunny conditions, several each of tufties and Pochard
5 goosander this morning very close to the Cheddar tower, also several tufties further around to the waterfall, two GS woodies down in the lane,
Goosanders were close in at the Axbridge side this afternoon then flew, joined by a second female, to the Cheddar end
two pair of Goosander this morning around 08:30, close to the boat house , and a Greenfinch at a usual spot in trees by the caravan park on Sharpham Road, ....As an aside, i have heard a RUMOUR that due to large numbers of visitors on the better days at weekends that access may be denied because of this, [sometimes up to 400 people and more ], a lookout for any such notice birders should be aware of , if i hear any confirmation then i will post it,
