2 Black Tern and 2 Swift seen around 12:00 from West Bank
Around 45 Canada Geese this evening, and a slow build up of Coot numbers around 50-60 there tonight
No bird news, just bad news. https://twitter.com/axbridge_birder/status/1158453213001134080?s=19 I’m very concerned by the utter lack of concern for the wildlife and/or other users of the res. I for one would welcome a public ban, afterall access is only permissive and not a rite like some would believe.
3 adult Black tailed godwit moulting out of sum-plum dropped into east bank at 06:08am this morning and were still present when I left at 6:45. Nice to see a few returning waders are beginning to drop in.
3 common Sandpiper on the lane side of the water
early doors at the res, 3 linnets, 2m and 1f,single LRP .....just returned from a quick saunter[bin less] and looks like a possible redshank wading amongst a group of BHGulls adjacent to the sports field
Sharpham Road this morning saw breakfast served for 2 sparrow hawks 1 at the caravan park, and second by the cemetery car park. in Middle moor Lane, where there were a brood of Green woodies it seems like they are still lingering around the nest site , 3 seen within 100 metres of the nest
Single GWE Monday evening near the boat house, plenty of small fry in large shoals around the water’s edge at the moment, so could see a few more arriving
early evening Tuesday and again this early morning around 2 dozen swifts
Adult Greenshank was present this afternoon at the res, occasionally showing well despite the usual “dogs off of leads” flushing.
i regularly walk the res in the morning with the dogs[6.30 - 7:00 am , i have over the last couple of years often heard an Oystercatcher flying around the res and did so last year,,
Thanks Stephen, I’ll have a look in the morning on the off chance it reappears. Comparatively rarer than Grey Phalarope during the same period for example!
Single Oystercatcher only bird of interest this morning - on jetty by yacht club.
That is certainly of interest - only the second record in as many years! Still a bird I need for the patch, perhaps I was wrong to write off spring passage (unless it is a returning non-breeder of course).
single goldcrest this morning in Middlemoor lane, and good news of a brood of GSwoodies fledging this morning, parent birds a bit frantic as i approached the tree while walking the dogs
Dunlin by the sailing club this morning
