The spoonbill yesterday looked a good match for the juv touring the Mendip lakes, based on the photos available online. There is good evidence of movement between the 3 sites, indeed I was talking about exactly that with Kim yesterday morning. No sign this am, but plenty of other bits and bobs to look at.

So, this is definitely a different bird to the one at shapwick, but could be the same as one seen at chew on Friday & Sunday (with visit to blagdon on Saturday). Anyone seen two at Steart recently?

The juvenile Spoonbill at Cheddar Reservoir was present earlier, from at least just after 1pm. It flew around for a bit when a couple of chaps ventured out on their paddle boards but wasn’t too spooked and it soon landed to begin feeding again having spent about 1 hour asleep with its bill hidden along its back.

An evening visit certainly produced the goods today; a juvenile Spoonbill was present briefly near the Cheddar tower. As always, dodgy record shots on my twitter @axbridge_birder
