The Arctic Tern was over Long Drove roadside lake at Sharpham at c.11.00 until a heavy rain squall came through, but no sign of it afterwards. Went to Noah’s Lake around mid-day and no sign that it had returned here. Single drake Garganey on Meare Heath pool and also a single Redshank - looking for some mud to keeps it s feet dry!!

The Arctic Tern was present for about 15mins or so on Noahs Lake at 10ish this morning and then flew off . There was also one common Sandpiper , 2 Hobbies, a mixed flock of hirundines and several Swift. Also an Otter seen briefly.

Thanks Jeff,

I saw the tern, and labelled it ‘comic’, rather assuming it would be common, which is how it was recorded at the RSPB shed.  Saw two swifts over the scrap around 10.30am, then 30+ mixed swifts and martins around 11.30am over Ham Wall.  Also 1 hobby, 1 ‘probable’ female garganey on the scrape (also thought to be female teal!), and plenty of garden warblers and whitethroats all over.

Arctic Tern over Noah’s Lake, Shapwick Heath late morning, watched it in the company of Brian Gibbs; also 3 Swifts there, and 2 Garden Warblers between the car park and the Tower Hide. Later, c.30 Swifts feeding over Ham Wall, where a Cuckoo calling at the back of Waltons.
