Eleven Hobbies were in the air together over Meare Heath early afternoon today, there were others over 70 Acres but I can’t look two ways at once! The pump on Meare Heath Scrape has been repaired and the near island has emerged. A bit late I fear for this Spring but who knows.
Five Hobbies in the air together early afternoon over 70 Acres behind the Tower hide . While sitting out a shower earlier mid morning a large group of Swallow/House Martins/Sand Martins and quite a number of Swifts appeared over the Scrape area but they moved away when the rain ceased.
Several Hobbies up together over Shapwick 70 Acres today and others over Noah’s Lake. A party of mixed hirundines were high over Ham Wall Walton’s this morning contained at least 10 Swifts and around 1330 this afternoon while looking at Hobbies over 70 Acres another group of over 20 Swifts appeared. Lots of St. Marks flies about now but I’ve seen no Dragon or Damsel flies yet! Hopefully this is the start of a decent Hobby influx!
