I live close by TNR and have had 1-3 Hawfinches for 6 weeks always visible feeding on ground across garden. Final one left only about 2 days ago. Never had them here in previous 20 years
I traipsed slippery Thurlbear this afternoon but failed to see any hawfinches, though a charming pair of courting marsh/willow tits understudied with bravado. The unwary should remind themselves, however, that courtship behaviour never continues beyond courtship itself.
Amazed to see five Hawfinch in and around the nature reserve this afternoon at 14.15, easy to see as they were feeding high in the trees. Made our day!
