Just a single Cattle Egret on fields between Westhay and Godwins Peat Factory this morning. The farm has been spreading slurry and all of the fields are alive with birds. At least 500 BH Gulls, a few Herring and LBB as well. At least 6 Buzzards, 10 Little Egret also seen.
There’s been one at West Bexington in Dorset recently. Hopefully a few others will have survived and will reappear.
Casualty of the severe weather? They disappeared after the last cold spell a few years ago. The situation is looking grim for Dartfords as well I haven’t found any in West Somerset since the freeze where before there were quite a few around but conditions haven’t been ideal for looking for them.
Where are they??
