Male in Muchelney garden this morning, must try this wish fulfilment ruse again, any suggestions?

Female Blackcap visiting my Chard garden since 30th November 2016, feeding on apples & peanut feeder.

We have a pair in my garden in Butleigh every year throughout winter. They are currently feasting on the crab apples finally softened by the recent frosts. Amusing to watch the male successfully defending the fruit from Fieldfares!

Two pairs in my Aller garden since 14th January, & first arrival (single pair) on 17th December.

Nige - female was on garden feeders in Moorland until last week - now we have a male guarding 5 feeders - he can just about chase off most things, but a pair of magpies have got it off pat - one distracts him whilst the other gathers a beakful of suet pellets from a ground-feeder. It’s quite amusing to watch him spend so much energy defending his food source, yet there’s enough to go round for all !!

At present no wintering birds in my Wellington garden ,first time for many years .

The last Blackcap I saw was in October, out and about most days and none seen in the garden here this winter for the first time I can remember.
Anyone else notice a dearth….............?
