A delightful couple of hours spent around Blackmoor Reserve this afternoon. Common Whitethroats and Willow Warblers very prominent as I walked between the car park and the wood and an unusually showy Garden Warbler was present by the pool. Common Redstart heard several times in the wood but I only saw the shimmering tail of a female. The most strident song in the wood came from a Mistle Thrush but Blackcap and Chiffchaff also heard. Although not in evidence when I arrived, a Cuckoo called constantly from 3 o’clock until I left.
