Could have been my sister in law. She likes singing in the garden late at night especially at Christmas.

I guess you probably ruled out a Robin. They sing during anti social hours.

Last night at 11.30 I had a bird singing in the garden, it was in short bursts of a few seconds. It was quite dark with cloud covering the moon. What would be singing at that time of night? Any ideas?
