Hi all, apologies that I’m nearly 24 hours late with this summary round up.

Greylake. Arrive for a magically walk along London Drove at Dawn. Key highlights as the sun came up were the sights and sounds.
A pair of Marsh Harriers calling and circling each other, a beautiful sight.
Bearded Tits calling from the reeds.
The sound of Goosanders drifting across the open water
A pair of swan doing a partial courtship display

A swan landing on the ice and spent quite some time working its way back to the water
Shovelors, Gadwall and Mallard all roosting on the ice
A water rail on the ice
A small mink appeared at my feet, looked up and then disappeared into the icy water( how I wanted to run on the ice)
A bittern landed in the reeds a few feet away.
A pair of Bearded Tits appeared and worked their way through the reed heads
3 Great White Egrets
2 Grey herons
6 Cormorants
Sparrowhawk
Kingfisher

And all this along a short section of London Drove near the north hide.

As I walked back the reeds either side of drove where full of birds ... But I hadn’t the time to check them out.

Such a brilliant 3 hours

Popped into here for an hour on the way home. The light was perfect, so great views of the local ducks and snipe right infront of the hide. The ice gave those in the hide ideal viewing of feeding ducks and behaviours as they moved around. The icing of the cake being a pair of bearded tits to the left of hide. A number of pintails were amongst the ducks.

First occasion that I’ve seen bearded tits at two Somerset locations on the same day.

All that didn’t appear was an Otter at Westhay and a Stoat at Greylake… Another day!
