Just spent 3 days fishing in the Porlock Bay area, some interesting/unusual sightings :
Weds 16th, 1000hrs, three Dark Bellied Brent Geese, on the sea in central Porlock Bay. I have never seen Brents here before – might be worth checking Porlock Marsh to see if they are feeding/roosting there
Thurs 17th between 1000 – 1200hrs a continuous passage of southbound migrants across the Bay, mostly Linnets, some Meadow Pipits and a single bird that I thought was a Mistle Thrush but might have been a Fieldfare.
Friday 18th, 1300hrs, 4 miles north of the Bay, a pair of Pomarine Skuas checked over the Gulls behind the Boat before continuing west down Channel.
Also seen were single fly by Shags and Gannetts at various times/locations, at least one Med Gull with BH’s close to Minehead. Red Throated Diver reported to me by someone else, Hurlestone area earlier in the week although I didn’t see any Divers.
