A heavy passage of Sandwich Terns has been occurring off the Somerset coast this year. This morning I had 2 fly east at 8.05 a.m. off Culverclffe, Minehead. That takes the total to 28 of birds I know of. Most records have been out west, starting with one on 23 March. Highest day count was 9 April when 12 were seen. The previous highest count to this date was of an exceptional 100 recorded in April 2013.
