There was a Willow Warbler at Five Bells on 22nd March. It was not trying to sing ! There was an earlier arrival in 1990 on 21st March.
A singing Willow Warbler at lunch time today in trees near Avill Bridge, Dunster. The average first arrival date in Somerset in recent years is March the 23rd. Surprisingly few Chifchaffs today. There were 15 calling around Wimbleball Lake on the 21st of March, and 10 around Greenaleigh and North Hill on Sunday. Only one or two Sand Martins seen out west so far and a few Wheatears. 3 Wheatears on Dunster Beach/Minehead Golf Course this morning.
