Really excellent afternoon on Stockland Marsh…

C.15 Yellow Wagtail, the ‘Channel Wagtail’ was briefly among them, all feeding on the receding flood in the North West Corner of Stockland Marsh.

C.40 White/Pied Wagtail, also on the receding flood.

1x Merlin - a female/juvenile type which, in an extremely exciting 30 seconds of birding tore into the wagtail flock and engaged in a fairly unrelenting pursuit of a White Wagtail, with repeated stoops as they headed off towards Stockland Bristol.

1x Osprey - heading north over Stockland Marsh, low over my head at 5:15 with two attendant Herring Gulls.

1x Green Sandpiper, flying and calling across Stockland Marsh.

Apart from these, much of the usual ducks, a couple of Kestrels and Buzzards, and plenty of egrets enjoying the lowering water levels.
