Graham Hall noted a Marsh Harrier taking dragonflies and got a photo of this at Catcott Lows recently. No knowledge of this myself, but Roger Clarke, in his book The Marsh Harrier, Hamlyn Species Guide, Hamlyn 1995, Chapter 10 Hunting and Prey, mentions: P90, a pair jumping on to tussocks and eating small items in them; and 3 juveniles attempt ground hunting making short bounds with wings flapping, sometimes making a further hop and landing with wings spread, appearing to miss small items of food. P96, Marsh Harriers wintering in Africa and India have been seen catching and eating grasshoppers and locusts, but in a far clumsier manner than the smaller Montagu’s and Pallid Harriers.
