3 very obliging birds seen this morning. The Ring Ouzel still close to the car park, the male Black Redstart in Brean cove and then, for the first time ever, a good UK view of a Kentish Plover at Burnham near the Yacht Club.
Showing really well this afternoon, despite the number of vehicles in the car park, as was the male black redstart, 2 stonechats, wren, robin & rats amongst the rocks.
The Ring Ouzel is still present in the same field opposite the Car Park often disappearing in a dip at the back of the field.
Found by Andy Slade yesterday, the bird was present today in a stubble field opposite the main National Trust car park, showing well at times. I last saw it about 1.15. It alarm called shortly after, just before a male Sparrowhawk appeared and all the birds in the field disappeared. I do not know if it was seen later, there were was hardly anybody left looking when I left but there is a reasonable chance it will still be around. It’s been seen feeding on earthworms. Impossible to be sure but probably more likely to be a wintering bird, as recent conditions not conducive to migration. There have only been 6 previous early December to January records, and 2 February ones in Somerset. Please note the road between Burnham and Berrow is closed but there is a diversion around a housing estate to get through. The other day when travelling in the morning was very slow. An alternative is to use the A370 and turn left at Lympsham to avoid this.
