30+ redpolls associating with a mixed flock of redwings, meadow pipits, goldfinch, linnets and yellow hammers in the newly planted ‘apple fields’ just outside Odcombe (footpath from Old Road). The redpolls would occasionally join the mixed flock, but often spent time up in the hedgerow Oaks. seems like ages since I last saw a decent sized flock of ‘countryside’ birds.

Also a single Red Kite looking fantastic in the mid morning sunshine. It drifted lazily between Odcombe & camp road before it drew the inevitable harassment from a local buzzard and slowly circled up and away to the west.
