Drake Ring-necked Duck on Wet Moor (still flooded, but likely to be pumped off in the dry weather this week), currently at approx ST442248, distant and intermittent views (often hidden by emergent ditch bank veg when not feeding), with Tufties, of which 100+ scattered across site. View from gate at end of track, ST434245, looking right, more or less towards Long Sutton church. Access by walking north on this track from the road between Muchelney and Muchelney Ham; wellies essential - first part of track submerged. Also present and visible from same place, 3 adult Bewick’s Swans and the long-staying Whooper, moderate numbers of duck including getting on for 1000 Wigeon. Territorial Coots everywhere (a few nest-building) and 10+ Great Crested Grebes, some displaying, any early nests soon to be left high and dry. Earlier, this morning, female Merlin hunting in centre of the Moor and Little Owl south of Church Lane, west of Long Load, + Brimstone and Peacock
