Great SOS Field Meeting with over 50 spescies of birds seen this morning at Steart.
We started at The Natural England CP and walked out along the shingle ridge to the Tower Hide, then back along the lane, species seen/heard:
Dunnock, Robin, Stonechat, Blackbird, Linnet, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff, Little Egret, Shelduck, Carrion Crow, Curlew, Blue Tit, Stock Dove, Wood Pigeon, Starling, Canada Goose, Dark-bellied Brent Goose, Herring Gull, Wren, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Great Black-backed Gull, Cetti’s Warbler, Reed Bunting, Whinchat, House Sparrow, Magpie, Buzzard, Long-tailed Tit, Great Tit, Collared Dove, Cormorant, Pheasant. (No sign of the Yellow-browed Warbler.)
We then alked from the WWT Steart CP to the Quantock and Mendip Hides, species:
Pied Wagtail, Golden Plover (no sign of the American Golden Plover), Cetti’s Warbler, Magpie, Long-tailed Tit, Carrion Crow, Grey Heron, Lapwing, Shoveler, Wigeon, Shelduck, Spoonbill, Herring Gull, Cormorant, Spotted Redshank, Black-headed Gull, Little Egret, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Curlew, Mallard, Great Black-backed Gull, Starling, Teal, Dunlin, Little Grebe, Pintail, Skylark, Kestrel, Raven, Wren, Hen Harrier.
