Catcott Lows today,
The Islands in front of hide have had a haircut by two splendid fellows working very hard in very hot sun! Yesterday the tree adjacent to the hide off Lower Ropes drove was felled.
Also present today at 1030 hrs were 10 Cattle Egrets these were joined at 1230 by a large group from near the Owl box where there were a few cattle, viewed through my scope i made it 52 total, plus two Little Egrets, they were joined by another 6 Cattle Egrets from the south west around 1400 hrs to bring the total up to 58 ( i’ve just counted them in flight on a photo), The were two Black billed juveniles in the flock.  They were all still there at 1500 hrs when I left.At this rate we will be back up to the winter totals soon!

I saw a Muntjak at the western end of Shapwick Heath along the path to Decoy hide a few weeks ago. Not far from Catcott. By coincidence, I visited Catcott Lows this morning and saw 3 Hobbys hunting dragonflies over the new scrape there.

Definitely in the Frome / Longleat area, otherwise north of the Mendips & Quantocks / Blackdown Hills seem to have most reports, but also in Dorset, so you are surrounded:

4.30pm Monday - I encountered a Muntjac in the wooded area around the peat pits. I have been a regular visitor to the Catcott Lows area over many years and this is the first Muntjac I have seen or even heard of.
