Apart from lots of the usual dabbling duck, including a few Pintail (12+) and Tufted Duck, the only birds of note were 3 GWE’s, up to 4 Marsh Harriers along the eastern tree-line - including a very smart displaying adult male, and a juvenile Peregrine (not the tundra) that spent several minutes in an unsuccessful high speed swooping chase of a Lapwing.

A flock of 64 Golden Plover (counted from my photo) flew over the Lows at 1330 today but did not land . A ring tailed Hen Harrier flew East to West yesterday ( Wed.) around 1345. Good number of Wigeon still present together with a dozen Pintail and reasonable nos. of Shoveller and Teal.

The ‘Grey’ Ruff that was present last Fri. 25th. paid another visit this afternoon around 1445 when a small flock of Lapwing arrived.

Highlight this afternoon was the arrival of a Ruff (very grey in colour) being the first new wader species, for me at least, for some long time. Unfortunately it only stayed about 20 mins. then headed off West but who knows it might return.
