This morning while I was walking around the village of Barrington between 1000 and 1100, I saw a movement of around 60 stock doves in groups of between 1 and 25 all flying steadily and directly due south.  If I didn’t know better, I’d have said this was either cold weather movement or migration.  Neither seem likely - the stock dove is largely sedentary and the weather is hardly likely stimulate movements to avoid snow and ice.  What can it mean?

A flock of 70 stock doves on West Moor this morning seems like a high count, particularly as I rarely see more than 2 at a time at this site.  No wood pigeons ether.  One peregrine, 200 lapwing and 3 golden plover were the only other records of note.
