Five Whoopers on the large pool between the Parret and the Sowey at Oath this morning. As I approached them I sang with great gusto the magnificent three note horn motif from the last movement of the 5th Symphony by Sibelius which he wrote having watched migrating Whoopers in Finland and imitating their 3 note call. As I sang the Whoopers swam close to me joining me in my singing with enthusiastic honking. It was a truly magical moment.
