After 2 days of not being able to identify an unusual song coming from the brambles at Longrun Meadow, Taunton, I finally managed to track the bird down and ID it as a Blackcap. It had the most unusual song, most unlike any Blackcap I’ve ever heard. It repeated this song continuously, never once reverting to “standard” Blackcap song. Indeed, it was repeating this song on 3 separate visits, so wasn’t a one-off for this bird. It was also doing a good impression of a Wood Warbler by doing the song shakes!

Has anyone ever heard this from a Blackcap before?
