Walking from Simonsbath to Landacre Bridge along the River Barle resulted in
4 or maybe 5 Pairs of Dippers
1 female Goosander (I was so hoping for more)
1 Woodcock
2 Kestrels
2 Buzzards
3 Ravens calling overhead
Close views of Goldcrests, Stonechats and the normal woodland type birds all over the place but didn’t notice anything unusual
Then onto Comerslade, Western Common (Ok that’s in Devon!) and Hangley Cleave.
Plenty of viewers and photographers all over the place on the roads and on the moor. The consensus was 7-8 SEOs. Owls covering a large area. Due to the light wind some of the Owls were hunting low along hedges. Interaction between Kestrel and SEO. Lovely views of Owls at Kinsford Gate
Two Male Hen Harriers, One Ring Tail and a Buzzard.
Red Deer.
Large flock of Starling heading to roost
Mouse of some sort….. I waited but no SEO came passed !! :-)
For any photographers reading this….. For me the Owls were always too far away and constantly moving about the moor for any decent images using a 400mm lens on a cropped sensor camera.
