There were still two male Gooseanders in the centre of the lake at 10ish.

Also 1 female Red Crested Pochard and, in the trees near the Axbridge entrance, two Treecreepers, Goldcrest and Chiff Chaff.

4 male and one female goosander, in the waterfall area this morning , flew off toward Stubbington drove/River   as the mist closed in again[8:30 ish]

Adult Male Black Redstart on South Side of reservoir this morning at 11am.

One female Crested Pochard, Grey wagtail and the tame Mandarin best of the rest.

More variety at Cheddar this morning as water levels rise. The most notable was a GN Diver near the Axebridge tower, a pair of Goosanders, Red Crested Pochard and Grey Wagtail as well as big numbers of Coot, Cormorant and GC Grebe.

At 7:00 this morning, in addition to the lesser yellowlegs, 4 goldeneyes (3m, 1f/imm), 3 great white egrets and a single snipe flew in.  Lots of other birds too of course but no time to count.

Having seen the Yellowlegs yesterday, I drove round to the Axbridge entrance and saw 2 male Red-crested Pochard out from the Yacht Club.

Between 07:30 and 08:45 this morning: 3 great white egrets, 5 little egrets, kingfisher and probable lesser yellowlegs.  The lesser yellowlegs was feeding close to the bank about 50m north of the Cheddar tower and was very confiding, which was fortunate because the light was poor and I only had bins with me.

as well as the “of late” usual birds,  three Knot were huddling together along the waters edge about 200 yards from the Cheddar tower[going clockwise]

just prior to sunset this evening, a very low water level res, ‘2 red crested pochard, 3 gwe ,1 little egret, and 3 heron

Two GWE present this morning near Cheddar Tower. Duck numbers increased a lot since my last visit with about 100 Wigeon and similar numbers of Teal and Mallard, 10 Tufted and a pair of Pochard.

1 Great White Egret still in shallows between Cheddar Tower and Yacht Club at lunchtime today, with a Little Egret.  Great White (possibly same bird) seen about half-an-hour earlier in fields south of reservoir.

Yesterday evening, 7th, one great white egret together with a little egret, one swallow, female mandarin duck,  Also a moribund herring gull which was ringed.  Have sent off details.

This morning around 7 am: 3 great white egrets feeding in shallows at northern and eastern perimeter; many ducks (not counted), including tufted, teal, gadwall and wigeon;  one swallow; 2 or possibly 3 dunlins (one too distant to be identified with bins); kingfisher; and many newly-arrived meadow pipits.
