At least 7 of their ringed birds were at cheddar in the autumn and 2 others at greylake last summer (cygnets born there get yellow rings)
The history of the swan is as follows:
‘This swan was originally ringed at Abbotsbury Swannery on the 23rd July 2011 during a round-up of ‘moulting non-nesters’. It was aged as being in its second calendar year. It was not hatched at Abbotsbury (Abbotsbury cygnets are initially web-tagged then given unique non-BTO metal rings and white plastic rings). It was not sexed. It was caught again at the Swannery during the next round-up on the 20th July 2013. Other than on those two occasions it hasn’t been caught or sighted at the Swannery again, or reported to us anywhere else. The Swannery & The Fleet Lagoon are a traditional moulting site for non-breeding swans, including many from the Somerset Levels.’ - from Steve Groves at Abbotsbury
