At least one Little Bittern barking from 06.00 to 11.00 this morning from open area well past VP2. One seen at approx. 06:30 in flight from west corner of open area going in easterly direction. Was then seen in reeds some 40yds from rail track; it then continued east, turned south and dropped in reeds behind open water. LB then seen going back west and dropping in in front of wood. LB then seen making short flight easterly in front of wood. Couple of ‘common’ bittern also in that area.

There were two male Little Bitterns at the West end of Waltons this morning and with no reports from the east end of Ham Wall, it looks like the LB might have moved location. LB fairly active between 6:00 and 9:00am

Then was also a Common Tern flying around Waltons along with the usual gang of Great White Egret, Bittern and Marsh Harrier. Many Juvenile Herons around.

From the Avalon hide, brief view of 3 Bearded Reedlings moving quickly left to right in front of the hide. The 3 juvenile Marsh Harriers were sitting up in the bushes waiting for a parent to bring in the food. Multiple food passes between one adult and the young birds. On bird flew very close to the hide.

Lots to see and enjoy,

Robin
