The Juv/1st-winter Glossy Ibis at Catcott Lows mid-morning. It was feeding so close to the hide that some views were looking down at it. It flew off ‘swarking’ west towards Eddington Moor at 10:35 hrs.
As three days ago the glossy ibis flew in to a small island in front of the hide at 1620, preened for 5 minutes then settled down to sleep. Reported to be present during the day, often hidden to left of Lows hide behind green shed.
Flooding now more extensive at the Lows and attracting more duck. My highest counts from yesterday and today: 350 wigeon, 170 teal, 60 shoveler, 170 lapwing. 15 mute swan, plus at least 4 dead swans which have died in last 2-3 weeks or so. A glossy ibis flew on to the pool in front of the Lows hide at 1625hr yesterday, just as it was getting dark.
