Collared Pratincole NOT seen during this morning at least up until 1230!  However 5 Green Sadpipers and the two Glossy Ibis were showing from VP2 and the Little Bittern had apparently made a couple of appearances between 0630 and mid day!

The pratincole was showing well in flight off VP2 this evening (13th).  Also managed to hear the little bitterns which started calling around 10.00.  They didn’t oblige by doing any flying around, though!

Pratincole still present until 11.00 this morning when I left the area. Also 2 Glossy ibis, at least six Green Sandpiper, several Bittern and Marsh Harrier sightings but no Hobby! I have yet to see one in July.

Pratincole still present late eve Tues. also Peregrine mid afternoon, barking Little Bittern, a couple of Hobbies, Marsh Harriers and Bitterns. The water level has been lowered off Vp 2 so hopefully will attract early moving waders

Still present off VP 2 Ham Wall at 1445hrs. and despite a few long flights during previous 4 hours it keeps returning to a couple of favourite sites on the ground so hopefully it may stay for a while!

Collared Pratincole apparently found around 6pm Sunday evening by a couple (name unknown) making their first visit to the reserve - well done them! News initially spread on Twitter (including Twitter feed on SOS home page) as a pratincole sp. (prob Collared), but later confirmed as Collared. Still present near dusk.

The bird favours the lagoon between the path to Avalon Hide and the second viewing platform (VP2), and mostly shows in flight hawking insects over the lagoon. Later this evening it returned several times to one spot on the ground which could be seen with difficulty from the grass path along the north side of the drain by the first screen east of the Avalon Hide. (Roughly where the Dusky Warbler was over the winter.)

Two reports on Birdguides indicating a Collared Pratincole at Ham Wall between 7 and 9 this evening.
