A poor year in Coleford, I have only managed to locate 22 Nests, 5 of which are within 30 yards of our House.
Highest Count being 29 during last week. We are lucky to have them screeching low over our Garden, almost continually during good weather.
First screaming squadron of the year, probably 20 birds over the garden.
Probably helped by the warm weather and low cloud.
Also, a lot of local Herring Gull activity, so wondered if it was an ant ‘nuptial flight’ day, though no evidence in the garden.
Swifts: pleased to have our breeding birds back y’day evening (1st May) circling our house in Street, Somerset and wall touching at their nest cavity.
Up to 8 over our house in Ilminster - quite vocal.
Also, a fledged brood of Coal Tit twittering around the garden.
8 Swifts this evening and 13 House Martins
Two swifts over my garden in Cheddar this morning.
Some arrived, Coleford, last night. 4 overhead today and visiting one of their traditional nesting sites, 2 doors up from ours.
First one in Wellington tonight. Even a brief moment of screaming.
3: Swifts seen over Glastonbury town centre last night. Look like local birds. Present this morning.
This is earlier than usual.
