2025 Status:
Eggs laid: 4
Hatched: expected 22/04
Fledging: expected 04/06

2024 Fledgling ‘GL’ (male) is back on the Minster and is now helping with the incubation. He is a bit clumsy so time will tell if we get all four eggs hatched in 2025

Incubation by both resident adults started with the laying of the third egg. However it is slightly more complicated this year with the return of the male ‘GL’ who fledged in 2024. ‘GL’ even ousted his Dad ‘JN’ from the eggs but wasnot sure what he had to do !!!  Videos posted on X here:

Great to hear the first egg of 2025 has been laid Robin. Let’s hope it’s another successful season for this pair.

One Peregrine seen at 12:30 today, along with a lovely male Black Redstart high up on the north face of the tower, fly-catching from the ridge just above the upper set of windows.

It is the start of a new breeding season and there are plenty of signs that the resident pair since 2017 will breed again this year. Both adults have been making regular visits to the gravel scrape and have been very vocal.

Given the mild winter, first egg could be laid between 14-19 March

Very interesting development this morning in the male “GL” that fledged last year was picked up on one of the cameras visiting the scrape. This was tolerated by the resident female (his Mum!) who was also on the scrape.

Have checked with other UK Urban Peregrines groups, males from previous years can become helpers. Such behaviour having been observed at two other sites.
