Not on independent bird register (others in may and Feb elsewhere)

This morning on Wood Lane, Butleigh I came across a very bedraggled Tawny Owl sitting on a hedge. It was very confiding, allowing me to get within a couple of metres before flying off revealing a jess on its left leg.
Has anyone heard of a captive owl going missing?
