Goldfinch mules with canaries are fairly common in captivity

Odd looking finch in West Somerset garden yesterday evening. Looked like a dull browny yellow Siskin with a very dull red goldfinch mask. Does anybody know if goldfinch and Siskin hybridise or is an escape canary/goldfinch. No rings on show and flew off before I could get the camera set up.
