Absolutely amazing views this morning of 2 adult Common Cranes (both unringed) in a fierce fight, one even grasping the others neck! About 100m in front of the hide (great video), 2 of a total of 5 present. Also 2 Marsh Harriers, 3 Grt W Egrets, 14 Snipe, 2 Stonechats, c.600 Golden Plover in flight far down the reserve, plus the usual dabbling ducks.
Will post a video of the Crane Fight on YouTube and on X (Twitter) after my replacement laptop arrives - old one not economically repairable. This posting on my Widows XP desktop that’s not compatible with either of these 2 websites.

Best for us (Kay & me) this morning was when a quartering male Marsh Harrier put up all the birds on the marsh: a huge flock of c.1,000 Golden Plover and c.600 Lapwing. 5 very distant Common Cranes (4 ads & juv) far, far away down the reserve, could hear their calls carried on a very stiff westerly wind and saw a brief flight of 3 adults. Just a single Grt W Egret plus lots of regular dabbling duck - plenty of Teal and just 2 Common Snipe. No sign of y’days Water Pipit.
