Slavonian Grebe still present 2 to 2.30 this afternoon just off the Cheddar Tower. Seemed to be feeding largely on flies so disappeared below the surface of the water only rarely.
Quite a sight as I had only seen winter plumaged birds here before.

Plenty of house martins today. Two immature kittiwakes (Mike was right!). Three common sandpipers.  And my first reed warbler of the year in the reeds on the west side..

It was sailing club racing this evening, so they may not have stuck around

10 little gulls late morning. By the time I had completed my walk round the res others had increased the number to 14.. All but two in full adult summer plumage. The juvenile kittiwake all over the place . The Cetti singing strongly by the gap in the new fence. My first whitethroat of the year also in that area. Plenty of sand martins but no house martins and very few swallows.

Pretty sure there were 2 imm kittiwake today, 3 common sandpiper (one with red ring) and a white wagtail (poss 2nd, was also.more flighty than resident pied), as well as pair of greys. RC pochard still with his female mallard, snoozing on the side by axbridge entrance, by time I’d cycled around they were passing axbridge tower, so think they’d been disturbed by a dog. A pair of wings was probable remains of that BhG

This (sunny) afternoon there were still a few swallows out in the middle & a pair of grey wagtail amongst the pied by the Axbridge tower, with a female mallard apparentlly preferring the company of RCP to other drakes, but I didn’t walk right aroound.

This morning between 7:20am & 8:10am House Martins (NW corner), Swallows (W&N) & Sand Martins (W&N) all in good numbers. 2 Goosander (F), 4 Common Sandpipers, Green Woodpecker, Red Crested Pochard, 2 White Wagtails, Kittiwake (Cheddar Tower) & a single Common Tern (beak was an orange red colour but in sunlight & difficult to see with Binoculars if any black ‘tip’ - so happy to be corrected to an Arctic Tern by those with scopes!
